Brace yourselves for an exciting match as John Higgins faces Barry Hawkins in the semifinal of the 2017 World Snooker Championship.
The sixth-seeded Higgins, known as the “Wizard of Wishaw,’’ displayed superb form in eliminating Kyren Wilson 13-6 to reach his first semi-final since his 2011 World Championship victory.
Hawkins set up the match by beating Stephen Maguire of Scotland 13-9 to advance to his fourth semi-final appearance in five years, having made breaks of 126, 98 and 86 in the game.
Maguire is the only unseeded player to reach the quarterfinals but he could not get past Hawkins.
In their last head-to-head meeting in the Winners’ Group of the Champions League in 2016 , Hawkins beat Higgins 3-0.
The winner of this match faces the winner of the other semifinal pairing pitting top seed and defending champion Mark Selby against fourth seed Ding Junhui.
Selby progressed to the next round after beating eighth seed Marco Fu 13-3 with a session to spare.
Ding moved to his third semi-final appearance after stunning five-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan 13-10.
As they clash in this match for a place in the final, expect a tight battle between Higgins and Hawkins.
Can Higgins continue with his rich run of form in one of his favourite venues? Or will it be the resilient Hawkins who reaches another Triple Crown final this season?
The winner of the tournament will not only pocket the top prize of £375,000, he will also be crowned the 2017 World Champion and lift the famous trophy in the Crucibles 40th year of hosting the tournament.
