Kyren Wilson is hoping to make a big impression in the UK Championship after thrashing Andy Lee 6-0 in his opener.
Wilson has impressed in the other Triple Crown events after he reached the final of the Masters last season and the last four at the World Championship, having previously manager two quarter-final appearances in the season-ending showpiece in Sheffield.
The world number 11 has never been beyond the third round in the UK Championship and hopes this could be his year to go far in York.
“This tournament is at the top of my list to do well in,” Wilson told the World Snooker website. “I have done well at the World Championship and the Masters so now this is the one I am targeting. From the second round the TV cameras come in and it gets more exciting.
“I am getting close to the big titles, I’ll keep knocking on the door and I’m sure they will come. Hopefully people enjoy watching me play because I wear my heart on my sleeve. It means so much to me and and I try so hard every time I play.”
Wilson’s next assignment at the Barbican Centre is a second-round clash with world number 57 Mike Dunn.
Wilson is 13.00 to win the World Championship and the 26-year-old can be backed at 13.00 to win The Masters.
