Wilson ready for Vahedi
Share:

Kyren Wilson looks on course to reach the final of The World Games after he beat Michael Judge on Thursday to reach the final four. The 25-year-old was too strong for his rival as he recorded a 3-1 victory in Wroclaw, Poland. The Englishman beat Estonia’s Andres Petrov 3-1 in the first round of the event but found life difficult against Irishman Judge. At one point he looked like going down 2-1 but he came back to steal the third frame on the colours.

That then gave him the momentum to win and a victory against Iranian Soheil Vahedi on Saturday will book his place in the final. Vahedi showed his potential as he battled past Swiss pro Alexander Ursenbacher, with a 3-1 win in the third match of the day. The 28-year-old has endured a disappointing few weeks after losing in the first round of the Riga Masters qualifying and China Championship. Wilson is the favourite to win the match.

Ali Carter also booked his place in the semi-finals after he beat Declan Brennan. Carter charged into a 2-0 lead but Brennan fought back before eventually losing 3-1. Carter’s reward will be a clash against Chinese star Xu Si after he beat home favourite Kacper Filipiak. The winner of their clash will be guaranteed at least a silver medal.
