Wilson disappointed as winning run ended
Share:

Kyren Wilson admits he wasn’t at his best after his semi-final loss to defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan in the Shanghai Masters.

Wilson had been on an incredible run of 19 successive victories, picking up the titles in the Paul Hunter Classic and the Six-Red World Championship, but he fell in the last four in Shanghai as ‘The Rocket’ claimed a 10-6 win.

Wilson, who is 15.00 to win the UK Championship outright, couldn’t hide his disappointment after the match and felt he wasted his chances.

“It was a really scrappy and poor match,” he said, as reported by the World Snooker website. “Ronnie didn’t play to his usual best. That was probably his C game.

“It was nice to see him try hard. In the past he might have thrown the towel in. It is probably testament to my own ability that he feels like he has got to try as I am one of the young guns coming through.

“However, you have to take your opportunities and I didn’t.”

Wilson is 17.00 to win The Masters outright and 19.00 to win the World Championship as he seeks a first victory in a Triple Crown event.

O’Sullivan is currently the 4.75 favourite to win the season-ending World Championship and his Shanghai Masters final opponent Barry Hawkins can be backed at 19.00, while holder Mark Williams is 12.00 to successfully defend his title.
