Luca Brecel will come up against Ricky Walden in what looks a competitive match-up in the Paul Hunter Classic on Sunday.

Brecel is rated at 7.50 to win the Paul Hunter Classic outright and Walden is 10.00, with Kyren Wilson the 3.25 favourite.

The Belgian brushed aside veteran Ken Doherty 4-1 on Saturday but should face a sterner test against Walden.

Brecel is currently ranked as the world number 25 and his opponent is just four places below him in the world snooker rankings.

The Belgian Bullet has won the two most recent meetings between the pair and leads the head to head 5-2 – but Walden managed a victory when they met on the biggest stage.

The Englishman won 10-6 at the World Championship in Sheffield last year, and beat Brecel 3-0 in the Champions League earlier that season.

Walden has endured a tough start to the season after falling at the first hurdle of the Riga Masters and then reaching the second round of the International Championship.

Brecel has the same record and both will be eager to rediscover their best form, with the China Championship and European Masters on the horizon.

The Belgian is 1.73 to win and Walden is rated at 2.05.
