Judd Trump will take on Ronnie O’Sullivan in the Northern Ireland Open final on Sunday and he admits he will have to be on top of his game to claim the trophy.
Both players are seeking a first ranking event win of the season ahead of the UK Championship, which begins later this month.
Trump’s best result prior to his run to the final in Belfast has been the quarter-finals, having reached the last eight in three events.
O’Sullivan has won the non-ranking Shanghai Masters and Champion of Champions events and has played a limited schedule but showed no signs of any ring rust as he overcame Mark Selby 6-5 in a thrilling Northern Ireland Open semi-final.
Trump’s passage to Sunday’s best-of-17 frames showpiece was a little more straightforward as he comfortably downed Israel’s Eden Sharav 6-3 in his own last-four tie.
However, the 29-year-old is well aware he needs to be at his very best of he is to see off the ‘Rocket’.
Trump said: “I think the fans here are very passionate. It could be a bit rowdy tomorrow and a good atmosphere. The table is playing lovely so hopefully we can live up the hype and produce some good snooker.
“It is nice going out there knowing that I am confident. I have played well all week and haven’t really put in any bad performances. I’ve been consistent and I have had that form for one or two months.
“I think it is more enjoyable going out and knowing you will play well. Hopefully tomorrow I can just play my game, not let the standards slip and make him work for it.”
Trump has lost all three of his most recent meetings with the 42-year-old – but two of those losses have been in deciding frames.
The ‘Juddernaut’ is 2.75 to claim the win and 9.00 to win 9-8, while O’Sullivan is 1.44 to come out on top or 2.50 with a -3.5 frames handicap.
