Judd Trump is aiming to keep racking up the victories after he moved into the second round of the German Masters with a comfortable win over Li Hang.
World number five Trump has enjoyed a fantastic start to the year, with a Championship League group success followed up with his Maiden Masters title at Alexandra Palace, as he beat Ronnie O’Sullivan 10-4 in the final.
Always dubbed as a huge talent, the 29-year-old Englishman looks like he is coming of age this season and he managed to dispatch China’s Li on Wednesday in the first round of the German Masters.
Despite not being at his free-flowing best, the Juddernaut still made breaks of 94 and 55 to advance at the Tempodrom and set up a second-round encounter with Yan Bingtao.
The Chinese teenager, who won the last three frames to come from behind and deny Welshman Matthew Stevens 5-3, is a 3.40 chance to get the better of 1.30 favourite Trump.
Speaking after his win over Li, Trump says he is hoping to maintain his push for German Masters glory on Thursday evening.
“With how many tournaments there are coming up, it’s important to try and keep your confidence,” he was quoted as saying by snookerhq.com.
“You don’t really want to be losing at this time of the season.
“So I can’t afford to be careless and I need to keep practicing hard, and keep winning as many matches as possible.”
The 2019 World Championships are fast approaching – with the Crucible event kicking off in April – and Trump is the second favourite at 6.00 to lift the trophy for the first time.
