Judd Trump is determined to stay positive this week at the Scottish Open after he breezed past fellow Englishman Jimmy White on Tuesday.
Trump secured a 4-0 win in just 45 minutes as he managed breaks of 73, 61 and 73.
He is currently enjoying a strong run of form having won the Northern Ireland Open against Ronnie O’Sullivan.
However, he failed to back that up at the UK Championship last week as he lost to Joe Perry in the last 16.
Trump insists he must forget about last week’s setback and he was pleased with his performance after he beat White in only their second match together.
He told World Snooker: “I played some good stuff at times. Jimmy was always finishing in slightly awkward positions. The table may have been playing a bit differently to what he is used to, as he isn’t on TV as much these days.
“My game is there, you can’t win every tournament you play in. You need to look to the next event and stay positive. I had a bad match at the UK Championship in York and that can happen.”
Trump is now 4.33 to win the final this week, while Mark Allen’s odds shortened to 8.50 after he won on Tuesday.
The Northern Irishman lost in the final of the UK Championship to O’Sullivan but he beat China’s Liang Wenbo 4-2.
Kyren Wilson is through to the second round too after beating Oliver Lines by the same scoreline, while Scottish duo Alan McManus and Scott Donaldson also progressed.
