Judd Trump has his sights set on the Dafabet Masters title ahead of his semi-final clash with Neil Robertson on Saturday.
Trump is 1.57 to win the match and Robertson can be backed at 2.38.
The Masters is the only Triple Crown event that Trump hasn’t managed to reach the final of and he admits he has failed to produce at the non-ranking event.
The Bristolian was knocked out in the last four last season as he threw away a 5-2 lead against Kyren Wilson.
Trump overcame Mark Selby 6-2 in the quarter-finals and he was pleased with his controlled performance – and now he hopes to go all the way at Alexandra Palace.
“In the past maybe I would have messed up,” he told the BBC.
“You just have to stay patient against him and you can’t go for anything stupid, just wait your chance. I think my safety has improved and I was able to compete against him.”
The world number five is the only semi-finalist who has never managed to win The Masters previously and he feels this could be his year.
He added: “It’s such a big tournament and my record is not great here. I’ve thrown away a few big leads, especially last year.
“You’ve got to learn from that. It’s no good just getting to the semi-final, you’ve got to get to the final and win it.”
Trump is 3.75 to win the Dafabet Masters outright and Robertson can be backed at 6.50.
