Judd Trump is yet to drop a frame at the Scottish Open but he believes home favourite John Higgins is the man to beat in Glasgow. Trump is 3.20 to win the Scottish Open outright and Higgins can be backed at 7.50.
Trump downed Ben Woollaston 4-0 in his second round match as he claimed the win in under an hour, hitting breaks of 102, 50, 60 and 119 to cruise through to the next round.
The Bristolian fell in the last 16 of the UK Championship but appears to have rediscovered his form, although Trump isn’t totally satisfied with his game at present.
Trump won the last Home Series event by taking the Northern Ireland Open in Belfast and he is upbeat on his chances in Scotland, although he feels Higgins is a major threat in the event.
Trump told Eurosport: “The scoreline was a little bit flattering, I think. My tip is playing really soft so it’s hard to really feel what I’m doing out there. With all the tournaments going on, you don’t have a lot of time to practice with a new tip.
“This would be a nice competition to do well in again. In Scotland, John Higgins will always be the man to beat, so hopefully, I can go deep into the tournament.”
Trump comes up against China’s Zhang Jiankang in the third round on Thursday and he is 2.30 to record another 4-0 whitewash, with Jiankang 12.00 to pull off a shock win.
