Trump confident ahead of European Masters showdown
Share:

Judd Trump is confident he can continue to improve after he reached the final of the European Masters where he will take on Stuart Bingham on Sunday. Trump was in sublime form on Saturday afternoon as he proved far too much for Cao Yupeng in Lommel. Cao made a promising start after he claimed the opening frame with a break of 63 but Trump learned his lessons and soon took complete control. Trump made breaks of 61, 100, 63, 87, 115 and 41 and that was enough to wrap up a 6-1 win as he looks to defend his title. After winning in just under an hour and a half, Trump will be under pressure to deliver on Sunday.

The 2016 champion has never defended a title but he showed his class last year to beat Ronnie O’Sullivan. He had to come from behind on that occasion and Bingham will pose a stern test due to his recent form. While Trump admits his scoring has given him confidence, he insists he is confident of winning even if he plays badly. He told World Snooker: “I always know if I play well it is going to be quite comfortable and I played pretty well there. “Even when I play badly now I still have a good chance, but if I can score like that and play like I can in practice it will be a great opportunity for a trophy. “Stuart is a great player, I watched him play against Mark Selby last night and he was very good.” Trump is the 1/2 favourite to win, with Bingham priced at odds of 6/4.
