The second round of the European Masters was as action-packed as the first. An highlight of the first qualifying round was the surprise defeat of Judd Trump to Ian Burns. Burns thumped Trump to a 5-2 win, showing Juddernaut the exit door out of the tournament.
In the same vein, Lu Ning completed a destabilizing win over Mark Allen. In fact, it was much more devastating as that of Trump as Ning completed a beautiful whitewash over his opponent. Shawn Murphy wasn’t spared either. The Englishman wasn’t spared by his compatriot, Alfie Burden who completed
an important round-up over him. Alfie Burden completed a 5-2 win over Shawn Murphy to seal his place in the 2020 European Masters finals.
Elsewhere, the impeccable Yan Bingtao secured a brilliant win over his opponent to seal his qualification for the European Masters. The 19-year-old who has steadily begun to enforce himself as a world force has been brilliant through the qualifiers and even recent events. In fact, his 5-1 win over Andy Hicks didn’t come as a surprise to a handful of people. Though many would have thought the Chinese come out tops, only very few would have thought 5-1 in favor of Yan Bingtao was possible.
It was a tight encounter between Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and Luo Honghao. A fierce duel between both Asians saw the former edge out his opponent by one frame. With that 5-4 win, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh can now have his eyes set on the 2020 European Masters finals.
Ian Burns who had eliminated Judd Trump was also in action in the second qualifying round of the 2020 European Masters. The English man bowed to the brilliant moved and techniques of Chinese Zhao Xintong. For the latter, he would be glad he didn’t have to face a really difficult opponent to qualify for the finals of the tournament. Burns who was lauded for defeating world number one, Judd Trump had a busy day at the office. Still basking in the aura of winning the world number one, it was expected that the Englishman gave Zhao Xintong a real run for his money but it was a rather routine win for the Chinese who triumphed by a 5-2 win.
