England’s Stuart Bingham will be hoping he can maintain his recent impressive form as he looks to reach the final of the European Masters. The 41-year-old has enjoyed himself on the circuit in the last two weeks, starting with his victory over Sean O’Sullivan in the International Championship Qualifiers at the end of September. In round one of the European Masters he beat Mitchell Mann 4-2, but he has since improved in each round. Bingham, 3.25 to win the tournament, has since beaten Graeme Dott, Luca Brecel and Mark Selby on Friday evening.
He showed his class as he picked up breaks of 65, 83, 113 and 65. Selby had no answer for his rival and was eventually beaten 4-2, with Bingham now moving into the semi-finals. His reward will be a match against Zhou Yuelong, who will be no pushover following his emphatic victory over Anthony McGill. McGill was beaten 4-0 by Yuelong, who is on his maiden run to the semi-finals at the age of 19. He has already despatched of Oliver Lines, Michael Georgia, Peter Lines and McGill.
A lot is expected of the Chinese star since he broke onto the Main Tour in 2015 and he is already in the top 32 players in the world. He is the 17/10 outsider to win, the Bingham the 4/9 favourite due to his vast experience. The duo have only met on two occasions in the past, both winning one match and Saturday’s final four clash promises to be a classic.
