Shaun Murphy looking to bounce back in Glasgow
Share:

Shaun Murphy is looking to bounce back from losing in the final of the UK Championship to Ronnie O’Sullivan by enjoying a good run at this week’s Dafabet Scottish Open. World number six Murphy was comprehensively beaten 10-5 by O’Sullivan during Sunday’s final at York’s Barbican Centre, as he missed out on what would have been a second UK Championship title.

The 35-year-old felt he was a little unfortunate to lose by such a large margin during the showpiece match, but he believes the tournament as a whole was positive, as he beat the likes of Ryan Day and Mark King en route to the final. “I felt 10-5 doesn’t necessarily reflect the match as a whole, I thought the match was a lot closer than that,” Murphy said. I’m not the world’s best tactical snooker player and he exposed those weaknesses as true legends do.” “The positives drastically outweigh the negatives.”

Murphy admits he does not have long to dwell on his loss, as he must now turn his attention to this week’s Dafabet Scottish Open, although he has a poor record at the Glasgow event, as he has never made it beyond the second round. He added: “I’ll be a little bit sore on the train up to Glasgow thinking about what could have been but I can’t do anything about it and I’ll be trying my best next week.” The Nottingham-based played will face Daniel Wells in the first round on Monday and he is priced at 2/11 to secure a victory from that contest, while his 29-year-old opponent is available at 7/2.
