Rocket reaping the rewards of diet change
Share:

Ronnie O’Sullivan has credited his dietary regime for his strong form this season. ‘The Rocket’ arrived in Cardiff for this week’s Welsh Open on the back of beating Ding Junhui in the final of the World Grand Prix and looks to have maintained his momentum. After receiving a bye through the first round due to Robin Hull’s withdrawal, he cruised through the second on Wednesday with a 4-0 win over Graeme Dott.

In amongst that was his 60th century of the season, as well as a well-crafted 69. He will now play David Grace in the third round and the tournament appears to be opening up for him with Ding, Judd Trump and world champion Mark Selby all already eliminated. O’Sullivan is the 11/8 favourite to win the Welsh Open for a fifth time but it is talk of a sixth Crucible crown that is currently entertaining most punters.

The 42-year-old has hinted he could skip the World Championships due to his television commitments but his form suggests that would be foolish. He is currently the 7/2 favourite to conquer the world and having already won four ranking events this season, he admits paying more attention to his diet is reaping rewards. “I have always been into my health, fitness and running,” he told World Snooker. “Because of injuries I started to put a bit of weight on so I decided to work with a nutritionist. “The benefit of that was feeling good in myself and having more energy. I take my diet more seriously now than I have ever done. I have massively changed my diet, learned about it and educated myself.”
