As the last 16 stage of the UK Championships are upon us, it’s no surprise that ‘the Rocket’ Ronnie O’Sullivan has already started to cause a stir but this time it’s not been due to his dazzling displays on the table it’s once again down to his post match interviews.
Ronnie says he’s ready to go and start a breakaway champions league type of tour. The five-time world champion is unhappy with the number of events on the calendar and the travelling required.
The 42-year-old says Stephen Hendry is “ready to come out of retirement” and hopes John Higgins joins too.
The most controversial part of the interview was when he said he’d like to invite recently banned played Yu Delu and Cao Yupeng to join the new tour.
Match fixing has been a big problem over the last few years with a number of players being banned as world snooker desperately try to rid our game of this and these comments from Ronnie only add fuel to the fire.
The Rocket has already taken a swipe at Barry Hearn for being a dictator but suggesting a new tour with banned players being involved takes things to a new level.
Has Ronnie gone to far this time?
