Neil Robertson made a fine start to 2019 by winning the Championship League Group One in Coventry on Wednesday.
The Australian made a winning start to the competition on New Year’s Day by seeing off Jack Lisowski 3-1 at the Ricoh Arena.
Robertson, who can be backed at 5.50 to win Championship League Snooker 2019 outright, was halted by Anthony Hamilton in his second out but went on to end the opening day on a high with another 3-1 triumph over Jimmy Robertson.
With momentum on his side, the world number 10 battled his way through the opposition on Wednesday to win four of his five matches and victory in Group One.
The 36-year-old avenged his defeat to Hamilton earlier in the competition when they met in the semi-finals, prevailing 3-0 before putting together another whitewash with breaks of 115 and 110 against Lisowski in the final.
He proved to be head and shoulders above the rest of the competition, posting six out of the eight tons compiled across the first couple of days’ action, and his 139 against Hamilton in the round-robin phase proved to be his 600th career century break.
His reward comes in the shape of a spot at the Winners’ Group in March, while he also collected £3,000 for winning the group, £3,300 for the frames he won, and an additional £500 for making the highest break.
English duo Mark King and Robert Milkins suffered elimination from the competition after finishing sixth and seventh respectively.
