Robertson seeks top spot
Share:

Neil Robertson has made a solid start to the 2019 Championship League with two wins and a defeat and can move to the top of Group 1 if he wins all three of his matches on Wednesday.

The Australian, who is 8.50 to win the tournament outright, comes up against world number 34 Ricky Walden in the morning and the two players are level on two points after three games so far. Walden did win their most recent meeting, at the World Open in August, but that is his only success over Robertson in eight attempts. Robertson is 1.53 to beat Walden, who can be backed at 2.40 to come out on top.

The world number 10 then faces current Group 1 leader Mark King in the afternoon in what could be a close battle. King has a perfect record so far with three wins in as many matches and the world number 26 downed Anthony Hamilton without dropping a frame in his last match. Robertson leads the head-to-head 4-0 and is 1.44 to beat King or 4.00 to win 3-0.

The ‘Thunder From Down Under’ completes Wednesday with a late afternoon battle with Robert Milkins. Milkins has played four games so far and has picked up just one win and he could be out of contention if he fails to beat Hamilton earlier on Wednesday.

Robertson has lost his last two matches against Milkins so this looks to be his toughest task of the day on paper. Milkins is 2.70 to win and Robertson is 4.33 to win 3-2.
