Neil Robertson produced a stunning comeback victory over world number one Mark Selby to book his place in the semi-finals of the International Championship.
The Australian was the underdog heading into his match against Selby, as the ‘Jester from Leicester’ had claimed overall glory in each of the last two years in Daqing and boasted a 16-match winning run as a result.
Selby looked on course to maintain that record as he raced into a 4-2 lead, but 2010 world champion Robertson dug deep and won four frames on the bounce to wrap up the 6-4 victory.
The match was a high-quality affair, with both players producing two century breaks apiece, while Robertson recorded breaks of 113, 95 and 53 during the final three frames to secure his victory.
The world number 10, who is chasing the 15th ranking event title of his career this week, was certainly impressed by the quality of snooker both he and Selby were able to produce.
“The purists and anyone who understands modern snooker would really have appreciated that match,” Robertson told World Snooker. “It was break building and potting of the highest standard and just incredible tactical play.
“It was one of the highest standard of matches I have ever played in for sure.”
The 36-year-old’s reward for reaching the semi-finals is a clash with Englishman Jack Lisowski, who beat Judd Trump 6-2 to book his place in the last four. Robertson is priced at 1.61 to win that match and reach the final, while Lisowski is available at 2.30.
