Australia’s Neil Robertson will be looking to continue his recent form when he takes on England’s Ben Woollaston on Wednesday in the Yushan World Open. The 35-year-old qualified for the tournament back in August after he beat Lam Sanderson 5-1 and he followed that up with a win on Monday during the first round. Robertson beat Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham with ease as he recorded a 5-1 win thanks to breaks of 50, 79, 100, 68 and 103.
Monday’s win was the second of the year over Saengkham for Robertson after victory at the World Championships. Robertson, 12/1 to win the UK Championship later this year, has already won the Hong Kong Masters this year and will be confident of maintaining his progress and going all the way this week. Scotland’s John Higgins is also in action on Wednesday evening as he takes on Matthew Selt in a match he should be expected to win.
Higgins warmed up for the contest by winning 5-0 on Tuesday, with Alexander Ursenbacher unable to compete with his rival. English duo David B Gilbert and Martin Gould will also meet in a match that could go down to the wire. Kyren Wilson, who comes into the tournament as the 11th seed, is also looking to progress and he will need to get past Michael Holt. Former world champion Peter Ebdon faces a tough task on Wednesday when he takes on Marco Fu after the 39-year-old beat Ian Burns 4-0 on Tuesday.
