Neil Robertson has warned his rivals that he is in the form of his life as he looks for a second World Championship title.
The 37-year-old claimed his only Crucible triumph back in 2010 and is priced at 9.00 to repeat the feat nine years later.
The Australian has been a regular winner on the circuit, with 15 ranking and nine other titles on his CV and he is currently looking for another at the China Open.
The ‘Thunder from Down Under’ is through to the quarter-finals after beating China’s Mei Xiwen 6-3 in their last-16 clash in Beijing.
He is now the highest-ranked player left in the tournament after Mark Selby’s early exit and will next play either 25-year-old Englishman Sam Craigie or Liang Wenbo, 32, of China for a place in the last four.
It remains to be seen if Robertson can lift the trophy at the end of the week but he was delighted with his display on Wednesday.
“At 3-1 down I was thinking about booking the next flight home. After the interval I was aggressive and played very well,” he said. “I made a ridiculous clearance to go 4-3 up, that was the best clearance I have made this season.”
The Aussie ace has won two titles this term, taking the Riga Masters and the Welsh Open but has also reached the final of the International Championship, the Players Championship and the Tour Championship.
Throw in two semi-finals and a couple of quarter-finals and it is no wonder that the world number seven is upbeat about his chances at Sheffield.
“This has been my best season and I am in the best form of my career at the moment, I am very proud to have reached the last three finals,” he added. “I will enjoy the rest of this week and everything is good looking ahead to the World Championship.”
