Neil Robertson will play Jack Lisowski in the China Open final after beating Belgium’s Luca Brecel in Saturday’s semi-final.
Robertson, the 2010 world champion, confessed ahead of the tournament that he feels in good form and the Australian pulled off a 10-7 triumph over his 24-year-old opponent in Beijing.
It seemed as though the match might go all the way to a deciding frame when they were locked together at seven apiece, but the ‘Thunder from Down Under’ reeled off three straight frames to move through to the final.
Breaks of 73, 83 and 66 in the last three proved to be the difference, with Robertson seeking a third ranking title of the season after winning the Riga Masters and Welsh Open.
The Aussie has also reached another three finals and sits seventh in the world rankings at present as the players get ready for the greatest tournament of them all at the Crucible later this month.
Robertson is priced at 7.00 to win in Sheffield, with Brecel on offer at 41.00, while Ronnie O’Sullivan is the 3.50 favourite.
Brecel is certainly one for the future and battled well with the in-form man from Down Under, with this week’s effort his best of the season by a considerable margin.
He did reach the final of the Six-red World Championship and the Masters quarter-finals although it has generally been early tournament exits for the ‘Belgian Bullet’.
He will take plenty from the trip to the Far East but it is Robertson, who has reached the final of his last four events, who will take all the beating.
