Ding Junhui is through to the quarter-finals of the World Championship after a drama filled 13-12 victory against Liang Wenbo in a match to remember, while four time world champion John Higgins joined him in the quarter final after seeing off Mark Allen 13-9 on Saturday.

last years finalist Ding Junhui came out on top in a stunning match up between China’s top two players – recovering from 10-9 and 12-11 down to force a decider frame, in which a break of 70 saw him over the line.

Ding will now face Ronnie O’Sullivan in the quarter-finals after he secured a 13-7 win over Shaun Murphy.

Leading 10-6 overnight, the five-time champion wasted little time in getting the job done -making breaks of 67, 111 and 55 to put an end to the 2005 winner’s hopes.

John Higgins set up a mouth watering showdown with Kyren Wilson after an impressive 13-9 victory over Mark Allen.

Between Allen and Higgins their were 18 breaks of 50 plus in a match of the highest quality.

Stephen Maguire roared into the quarter finals win a 13-3 victory over Rory Mcleod.

Maguired put together a powerful run of scoring and wound up winning the match with a session to spare and will now face the winner of the Barry Hawkins and Greame Dott match in the quarter finals.

Current world champion Mark Selby leads Xiao Guodong 10-6 going into the final session on Monday.
