Shaun Murphy says he remains concerned by his form despite beating Michael Holt 4-0 on Wednesday night in the Scottish Open.
The world number 11 hit a 54 break and two 47s during his second round win to set up a clash with Nigel Bond. Murphy is 1.20 to secure a third round victory and 3.50 to win 4-1, while world number 81 Bond is 4.33 to claim a win on Thursday.
Murphy fell in the second rounds of both the English Open and the Northern Ireland Open before becoming a big-name casualty in the first round of the UK Championship.
The 2005 world champion admits he is still trying to rediscover his form after a tough period and was delighted to continue his run with a much-needed victory in Glasgow.
“I’m absolutely not happy with my form, but the way it’s been for me this season, you have to forget about how you do it,” the 36-year-old told Eurosport.
“Where my confidence has been and where the results have been this season, it’s all just about getting the result.
“There were parts when I hit the ball well, there’s a long way to go, and I’m still here.”
Murphy is 19.00 to win the Scottish Open outright, Mark Allen is 6.50 and home hopeful Graeme Dott can be backed at 41.00.
