Dafabet Masters champion Mark Allen is through to the semi-finals of the International Championship in Daqing after whitewashing Ali Carter 6-0.

The Northern Irishman is aiming to go a step further than 12 months ago, when he lost the final 10-7 to Mark Selby.

Allen was impressive in dispatching two-time World Championship finalist Carter, with breaks of 129 and 70 on his way to establishing a 4-0 advantage. Allen’s 129 contribution in the opening frame was his eighth ton-plus effort of what has already been a stellar week for the Pistol in China.

Carter’s hopes of a fightback were all but dashed in the fifth frame, with Allen stealing it after requiring two snookers, before winning the next to secure the whitewash victory.

He will now face either Martin O’Donnell or Matthew Stevens for a place in the final.

World number 21 Jack Lisowski got the better of his close friend Judd Trump in a 6-2 win in the last-eight and now awaits either defending champion Selby or Neil Robertson.

Lisowski wants a berth in the top-16 in the coming months.

“I definitely want to be a top 16 player. If that happens it happens,” he said. “I’m just working as hard as I can and trying my best in every tournament. If I can keep it up then in a few months, who knows.

“I’m starting to find some consistency, I’m not sure where from but I’m riding a wave and I want to keep it up as long as I can.”
