Ronnie O’Sullivan says he will look to be more aggressive when he takes on Judd Trump for a place in the final of the Tour Championship.
The world number two’s progression to the last four never looked in doubt as he eased into a commanding position in Llandudno.
Fresh from winning the Players Championship at Preston’s Guild Hall earlier this month, O’Sullivan merely had to hold his nerve after coasting into a 6-2 lead ahead of the evening session. Stuart Bingham did manage to pull one back but O’Sullivan’s class prevailed as he claimed a 9-3 victory.
O’Sullivan goes up against Trump in the semi-final as the duo, who have already met in two finals this season, battle it out to finish at the top of the Coral Cup standings.
The pair are currently tied after claiming £130,000 in prize money over the two previous events – the World Grand Prix and Players Championship.
‘The Rocket’ insists he is yet reach top level and admits he will need to bring more aggression to Thursday’s meeting with Trump.
“I’m playing alright. I very rarely play badly. I have a certain level I always play to,” said O’Sullivan.
“I always seem to have good matches with Judd. Over the years there have been some close ones. We have had a few good finals. We both play a similar type of the game. He probably plays a bit more aggressively than me but I will try and be as aggressive as I can, because that is the name of the game.”
O’Sullivan can also equal Stephen Hendry’s record of 36 ranking event victories if he goes all the way this week.
Trump is priced at 2.40 to come out on top, while O’Sullivan can be backed at 1.53.
