Neil Robertson and John Higgins will resume their quarter-final match on Wednesday at this year’s World Championship with the scores all level at 4-4.
Australian Robertson has arguably been the most in-form player in the world over recent months, as he has won three ranking-event titles this season, including his victory in the China Open earlier this month.
The world number four certainly brought that impressive form into his opening two matches at the Crucible, as he only dropped a combined seven frames on his way to beating Michael Georgiou and Shaun Murphy.
Robertson, who is looking to win his second world title following his maiden success in 2010, started his quarter-final showdown with Higgins in the same vein, as he quickly established a 2-0 lead.
The two players then shared the next four frames which meant Robertson held a 4-2 advantage, but he missed an opportunity to extend that lead further when he failed to build on a break of 45. That allowed four-time world champion Higgins to reduce the arrears and the Scot then won the final frame of the session with a break of 73 to level the match up at 4-4 heading into Wednesday’s second session.
It is no surprise that the two players have proved evenly matched so far, as they have both won 11 of their previous 23 meetings, alongside a single drawn contest.
Robertson is priced at 1.44 to advance through to the semi-finals in Sheffield for the first time since 2014, while Higgins, who has been a beaten finalist in each of the last two years, is available at 2.63.
