Shaun Murphy continued his resurgence to form by beating Jack Lisowski 6-1 in their quarterfinal encounter at the 2019 Shanghai Masters.
After a difficult snooker campaign last season, Murphy has begun to find his feet and firm once more. The 37-year-old looked more like himself so far this season and even played really well to finish as runner-up at the recent International Championship, he has continued in to maintain his resurgence here.
He came up against Jack Lisowski in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Shanghai Masters. The game was predicted to be tough, and both players were favorites to win the trophy in China.
However, when the game began, it was actually Lisowski who started to make headway. He won the opening frame before Murphy replied with breaks of 55 and 60 to win next three consecutive frames and retake the lead. At the mid-session interval, the score between Murphy and Lisowski stood at 3-1.
In the next interval, Murphy took absolute control of the game, thereafter, went on to win three frames in quick succession, thanks to breaks of 56 and 107, ensuring his smooth passage to the semi-finals.
Shaun Murphy, the top English professional snooker player, who won the 2005 World Championship is a seasoned snooker player and can definitely challenge for the crown in Shanghai. Murphy, also known by his nickname “The Magician,” is known for his straight cue action and his long potting.
He has garnered more than 450 century breaks and has made up to five maximum breaks. His total career earnings have reached and surpassed £3 million.
Murphy has also won seven non-ranking snooker competitions, including the 2015 Masters, which was where he completed his career Triple Crown. He won the UK Championship in 2008, Players Tour Championship Grand Finals in 2011, World Open in 2014, World Grand Prix in 2016 and the Gibraltar Open in 2017.
Also, in 2017, Murphy won the Champion of Champions title defeating Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final of the tournament
At the 2019 World Snooker Championship, Murphy became only the second person to whitewash an opponent in the world championships. He embarrassed Luo Honghao 10–0 in the opening round
Shaun Murphy has now set up a semi-finals clash with his good friend Mark Allen, who defeated world champion Judd Trump 6-1.
Murphy Shaun is priced at 2.26 to win over Allen Mark, while Mark is available at 1.62.
