Ross Muir is pleased with the progression he is making in the sport and leaving no stone unturned in his quest to become a better player.
The 23-year-old has been a professional for five years but is yet to make too much of an impression at the business end of events, with a run to the fourth round of the 2017 Shoot-Out his best return to date.
The Scot did enjoy an encouraging victory over former world champion Neil Robertson in the Scottish Open last week before going down to 30-year-old Englishman Sam Baird at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.
He is back in action on Friday and will take on Ricky Walden in the German Master Qualifiers.
The Edinburgh-born youngster is on offer at 3.40 to claim the match while his 36-year-old English opponent can be backed at 1.30.
It looks a tough match on paper but Muir remains confident after signs of improvement over the past few weeks.
“Because of the amount of tournaments, I can almost see my progress,” he told Courier Sport. “There has been a lot of progress, for sure, every tournament I am upgrading something.”
And the world number 93 confessed that he looks at all aspects of his life to try and better himself on the green baize.
“It is really making a big difference with what I am working on now,” he added. “I am certainly more competitive with the top guys.
“I am practising very hard and working on things away from the table, like my fitness and the psychology of snooker.”
