England’s Martin Gould will be looking to keep hold of top spot in Group 6 of the Championship League when play resumes on Friday. The 36-year-old has enjoyed a superb start to the tournament and he has only tasted defeat on one occasion. He opened with a loss to Graeme Dott before then bouncing back and beating Ben Woollaston, Michael White and Ricky Walden.
The 20th seed will take on Judd Trump in his first match at the Ricoh Arena and he is the outsider for the contest. Gould is priced at 2.70, while Trump is available at odds of 1.40 with Dafabet. He then takes on Li Hang in the final match of the day and he is 1.67 favourite, with Hang 2.05 to claim the victory. The Chinese star has the same amount of points as Gould but has played one match less and his games against Walden and Woollaston could prove crucial before he takes on his nearest rival.
Trump is also looking to kick on from a share of first place and he also faces Michael White in Coventry. He is 1.36 favourite and is expected to continue his recent form at the start of the year. He reached the semi-finals of the Masters before losing to Kyren Wilson and he has already beaten Walden, Woollaston and Dott so far. Woollaston faces an uphill battle to climb off the bottom of Group 6 and both the Englishman and Welshman White will start Friday’s play without a single point.
