Wales’ Mark Williams will be dreaming of winning back-to-back ranking titles at the Snooker Shoot-Out this weekend after reaching the last 32 at the Watford Colosseum. The one frame knockout tournament will reach its conclusion on Sunday and Williams is looking in a good position to go all the way.
He beat James Wattana on Saturday night to progress and Williams is now the 9/1 favourite to win the event. Williams won the German Masters last week and another victory will see him claim his third ranking tournament of the season. England’s Allister Carter is also in action and he faces Mark Davis in the opening match of Sunday’s play. Billy Castle knocked out crowd favourite Jimmy White on Saturday to advance to round three and he is set to take on Stuart Carrington during the afternoon session. Belgium’s Luca Brecel will fancy his chances after beating Mei Xiwen but he must overcome Michael Georgiou to reach round four.
Brecel finished runner-up in the Snooker Shoot-Out two years ago and he is 14/1 to go all the way in 2018. Stuart Bingham will also head into Sunday’s session with plenty of confidence after he came from 41-0 down to beat Scott Donaldson with a run of 60. Bingham, 12/1 to win the Shoot-Out, takes on Elliott Slessor and he will be hoping to come through that with ease. Scotland’s Graeme Dott is also in action against Ashley Hugill, while Barry Hawkins must beat Kurt Dunham to progress.
