Lisowski to face Selby in 2019 Shanghai Masters

Jack Lisowski will clash with Mark Selby in the last 16 of the 2019 Shanghai Masters.

The 2019 Shanghai Masters started on Monday in sizzling fashion, and quite a few players have been eliminated from the tournament already. They have
also been interesting match fixtures that have been set up. One of such fixtures is Jack Lisowski coming up snooker veteran Mark Selby.

Jack Lisowski was paired to face one of the four wild cards drawn to face four professionals in the opening round. Wu Yize was drawn to face Lisowski, and he was easily defeated 6-1 in the first round by Jack Lisowski.

Wu Yize was one of the CBSA Tour qualifiers and clearly stood no chance against Lisowski. The other three amateur qualifiers are Zhang Yi Amateur who won the Shanghai Amateur Masters and will face defending champion Ronnie O’Sullivan. Cao Jin was the Amateur Shanghai Masters runner-up, while Zhao Jianbo was also CBSA Tour qualifier.

Jack Lisowski, whose nicknames include “Jackpot,” “The Big Lisowski,” and “The Dude” will fancy his chances against Mark Selby although he has had a tough time whenever he faces Selby. At the European Tour event in 2010, the Antwerp Open, Lisowski won five matches to advance to the semi-finals where he faced Mark Selby. He eventually lost 4–2 to Mark Selby in the game but put up a good showing.

The 28-year-old English professional snooker player gained attention when he finished first in the 2009/2010 PIOS rankings. The has since gone on to become a seasoned player in the game of snooker.

Jack Lisowski has also competed in the Shanghai Masters three times he reached the quarter-finals twice and reached the semi-finals once in the 2017/2018 season. He also finished runner-up recently in the 2019 China Open where he lost 4-11 to Neil Robertson in the final. In the 2019 Championship League, Lisowski finished again as runner-up as he lost 1-3 to Martin Gould.

His opponent Mark Selby won the Shanghai Masters in 2011, and currently ranked sixth in the world. The game will be a tough one, but the best man will definitely win.

Mark Selby is available at 1.50 to claim a victory, while Jack Lisowski is priced at 2.54
