Lisowski digs deep to secure China spot
Share:

England’s Jack Lisowski produced a superb late charge as he came from behind to beat Ian Burns and confirm his spot at the Evergrande China Championship.

The 27-year-old looked in trouble on Sunday but he found a way to win as he confirmed his spot in the tournament that will start at the end of September. He trailed 4-2 at one point but then found his rhythm to fire home breaks of 81, 67 and 56. That allowed him to win 5-4 as he continued his impressive recent run on the professional circuit.

Lisowski has already reached the final of the Riga Masters this year where he lost to Neil Robertson. He also reached the quarter-finals of the World Open.

Robertson was also able to enjoy a win this weekend as he beat Scotland’s Ross Muir 5-2 to ensure he will be on the plane to China.

Shaun Murphy will also be returning to Guangzhou after last year’s runner-up beat Northern Ireland’s Jordan Brown. ‘The Magician’ produced a top break of 123 on his way to a 5-2 win.

Hong Kong’s Marco Fu was in fine form on Sunday night as he beat Sam Baird 5-2. The three-time ranking event winner hit home breaks of 90, 101, 86 and 96 on his way to victory.

Mark Allen proved too much for Sean O’Sullivan as he won 5-2, while Joe Perry and Mark Davis also secured their third wins of the week as they beat Ashley Hugill and Hamza Akbar respectively.
