Judge faces Ng On Yee in Poland
Share:

Michael Judge is one of the bigger names in the World Games in Poland but he faces a huge test against Ng On Yee in the first round on Thursday. Judge, a former professional and now a high-profile amateur, comes up against the women’s professional world champion. Hong Kong’s Yee is one of two women in the draw, the other being Wendy Jans who takes on Northern Ireland’s Declan Brennan on Wednesday. Judge, 42, reached 24 in the world rankings at the height of his professional career and qualified for the World Championship three times but never managed to win a ranking title.

Meanwhile, Yee has an impressive record and arguably the bigger match experience, aside from Judge’s appearances at The Crucible in Sheffield. The 26-year-old is the reigning ladies World Snooker champion, having also taken the title in 2015, and has won four other major titles over the course of her career to date. This should be a fascinating match-up and pits a veteran against one of the star’s of the women’s game.

Judge and Yee do find themselves in arguably the trickier side of the draw, however, and a meeting with Kyren Wilson looks likely in the second round in Wrocław. Wilson, the highest-ranked player involved in the competition, takes on Estonia’s Andres Petrov in his first-round match.
