Reflecting on his win, the world number three admitted that he had produced something close to his best snooker. “You aren’t going to get many games in the whole tournament that are a higher standard than that,” said Trump. “Ben was unlucky, I played well and he also played well. If he was against someone who lowered their standard a little bit he would have probably won.”
Trump now faces Perry, ranked 22nd in the world, for a place in the quarter-finals. Trump is favourite at 1/3 to come out on top, while Perry can be backed at 21/10 having overcome world number 48 Yu Delu 5-4 in his opening game.
