Anthony Hamilton secured an impressive win over Jack Lisowski to secure a European Masters semi-final spot.
Hamilton, 47, overcame Lisowski is a seven-frame thriller to set up a last-four meeting with fellow veteran Joe Perry.
The ‘Sheriff of Pottingham’ secured a career first ranking title in the 2016/17 season by taking the German Masters but failed to progress beyond the second round in any ranking event last season. The world number 28 has a great chance to claim the European Masters as the draw looks wide open, with Mark King and Jimmy Robertson contesting the other semi-final.
Hamilton is 5.25 to take the title outright but he’ll face a huge test against Perry, who has won all four of the previous meetings between the two, including a 4-1 win in Gibraltar earlier this year.
Perry needed seven frames to get past world number 115 Tian Pengfei in the previous round but did score an eye-catching 4-1 success over Kyren Wilson earlier in the competition.
Hamilton downed rising stars Lisowski and Luca Brecel to seal his final-four spot but faces a different sort of test against the experienced Perry.
Hamilton is rated at 2.50 to claim the win and can be backed at 8.00 to win 6-5 or 9.50 to win 6-3. Perry is 1.50 to beat Hamilton and the 2.40 favourite to win the tournament outright.
