Luca Brecel overcame Judd Trump 4-0 in last year’s Champion of Champions event but it remains his only win over the Englishman so far.
The two players meet in the afternoon game on Wednesday in Coventry and Brecel will be hoping to end his losing streak against the world number five, who is 9.00 to win the Champion of Champions outright.
Since that clash at the Ricoh Arena last year, Trump has claimed three successive wins over the Belgian – winning 12 frames to Brecel’s one – and overall he leads the head-to-head 5-1.
Trump is 1.33 to win Wednesday’s Group semi-finals match or 5.25 to win 4-0.
The winner will come up against either world champion Mark Williams or Kyren Wilson, who also meet on Wednesday.
Williams is 1.67 to come out on top and Wilson is available at 2.15.
Brecel, who is 3.25 to see off Trump, has struggled for form of late and has managed just one win in his last four games.
Trump reached the Champion of Champions final in 2014 but has fallen at the first hurdle in two of the three editions of the tournament since.
He will be keen to make a big impression in the non-ranking event as he tries to build some form going into the UK Championship later this month.
The UK Championship is the only Triple Crown event Trump has managed to win, having claimed the title in 2011, and he is 11.00 to win this year’s edition of the tournament, while world number one Mark Selby is 6.50.
