Stuart Bingham beat Mark Selby 3-1 in the Championship League Group Four final on Thursday.
Bingham lost the opening frame but then won three in a row as he overcame the world number one, hitting a break of 80 in the final frame.
Bingham, who won the event in 2015, joins Judd Trump, Neil Robertson, Jack Lisowski and the winners of the next three groups in the Winners’ Group, which takes place in Barnsley on March 13 and 14.
“It feels great to be in the Winners’ Group again, getting a win over Mark under any circumstances is always good and I feel my game is in a good place with the Masters coming up in a few days,” Bingham told the official World Snooker website.
“You don’t really know how you’re going to be playing under match conditions until you get here so I’m over the moon to have got some match time under my belt ahead of my match against Ronnie O’Sullivan [in the first round of The Dafabet Masters] on Monday.
“The year I won this I won the World Championship so there might be a good omen in that too, but the most important thing is I’m happy with my game at moment. If I can win the Winners’ Group there is a spot in the Champion of Champions up for grabs too which I’ve definitely got my eyes on.”
Bingham is 3.60 to see off O’Sullivan on Monday and the world number 12 is 29.00 to win the Dafabet Masters outright.
