Bingham on course for Robertson clash
Share:

Stuart Bingham remains on course to face Neil Robertson in the final of the China Open after easing into the quarter-finals.

The 2015 world champion took care of 47-year-old Merseyside player Rod Lawler in the last 16, running out a 6-1 winner in Beijing.

The 42-year-old, who hit a maximum 147 break against Peter Ebdon in round two, is going to play 27-year-old Jack Lisowski of Cheltenham for a place in the semi-finals of the Far East event.

World number 15 Lisowski beat China’s Li Hang to advance and will be targeting a third final of the season after making the last two at both the Riga Masters and the Championship League.

He has also made a semi-final and three quarters recently and it looks set to be a tough task for Bingham.

Meanwhile Robertson had no problem in reaching the last four after defeating Sam Craigie 6-0 this afternoon.

Ben Woollaston, 31, takes on 25-year-old Scottish player Scott Donaldson, with one of the duo set to face Bingham in the semis should he make it.

The remaining quarter-final sees Belgium’s Luca Brecel square off with Scottish veteran Alan McManus and will now clash with Robertson in the next round. The Australian is the 2.25 favourite to win the tournament ahead of Bingham at 3.75.
